Outpost talks with people about what they are working on, why it matters, what they are learning, and what they need. Some of those conversations are shared publicly. All of them help us build a better picture, one person at a time.

How it works

Someone tells Outpost what they are working on. We understand enough to ask useful questions and remember what the person is trying to do and what they need.

Another conversation may reveal a useful connection. When that happens, Outpost makes the introduction.

Over time, patterns may begin to emerge. Only then do we consider whether something new might be useful.

What each conversation adds

Each conversation adds another piece to our understanding of the field: a person, a project, a question, a need, a bottleneck, an idea, or an emerging theme.

We are not trying to produce a comprehensive map. We are building a better picture of who is working on what and where useful connections might exist.

What happens next

The useful outcome may simply be a connection.

Some conversations are published. Some lead to an introduction or a small discussion. Some simply sharpen our understanding.

If the same need keeps appearing, it may lead to a working group, resource, tool, experiment, program, independent project, or another practical response. Building is never the default.
